Czech tennis team beats Australia in United Cup opener

The Czech tennis team has taken an early lead in its final United Cup group match against host nation Australia. Barbora Krejčíková secured the opening point in Sydney, defeating Australia’s Maya Joint in straight sets, 6–4, 6–1.

With the victory, the Czech team is now just one win away from topping Group D and earning a direct place in the quarterfinals of the mixed-team competition.

Even if the Czechs finish second in the group, a fourth win at the tournament would be enough to guarantee their progression to the knockout stage.
