FM Schillerová to unveil last year’s budget result, deficit seen above plan

Finance Minister Alena Schillerová is set to present the state budget results for last year, with the deficit expected to exceed the original plan. The approved budget foresaw a shortfall of CZK 241 billion, but Schillerová has said the final figure will likely be deeper, possibly surpassing the 2024 deficit of CZK 271.4 billion. Most of the year’s budget was managed by the previous government led by Petr Fiala, while the cabinet of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, the ANO party leader, took office in mid-December. The Finance Ministry will also release preliminary data on state debt.
