Czech man dies climbing Breithorn in Austria
A 49-year-old Czech man died on Wednesday while climbing Mount Breithorn in the Austrian state of Salzburg. According to the Salzburg24 website, the man set out in the morning from Saalfelden in the Pinzgau region towards Breithorn. His relatives contacted authorities in the afternoon after they were unable to reach him. A rescue operation was launched, involving mountain rescue teams from Saalfelden and the crew of the Libelle Salzburg rescue helicopter. The teams located the man, but were only able to recover his body. Initial findings by Alpine police indicate that he slipped on a snow-covered path and fell from a rocky slope.
