Police warn of scams that can turn victims into unwitting drug couriers

Czech police are warning of a rise in scams in which people are tricked into unknowingly smuggling drugs abroad. According to the National Drug Headquarters, fraudsters typically build trust with victims online, persuade them to travel overseas and then ask them to carry a suitcase that secretly contains drugs. In recent cases, a 77-year-old man was arrested in Brazil with seven kilograms of cocaine, while a 57-year-old woman faces a possible life sentence in Hong Kong. Police say scammers often target people with financial problems and urge the public to be extremely cautious.
