Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend named WTA doubles team of the year

Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková and American Taylor Townsend have been named the WTA’s doubles team of the year for the first time. For the 29-year-old Siniaková, it is her fourth time receiving the honor. She previously won it three times with Barbora Krejčíková.

Siniaková finished the season as the world number one in doubles for the fifth time in her career, matching the record held by Martina Navrátilová. Together with Townsend, she won the Australian Open and the tournament in Dubai. The pair also reached the final of the US Open. Townsend ended the season ranked second in the world.
