Šťastný outlines sport agenda to Pavel, wants to keep NSA budget level

Motorists’ nominee for minister for sport, prevention and health Boris Šťastný says he wants to preserve the nearly CZK 8.3 billion earmarked for the National Sports Agency (NSA) in next year’s draft budget prepared by the outgoing government. After meeting President Petr Pavel, he said he presented his concept for coordinating a portfolio now split among several ministries. He also discussed broader funding for sport, stressing support for children and schools. Šťastný sees room for savings in the NSA’s operating costs but insists overall spending should rise in future. He added that serving simultaneously as party caucus chair and minister would not pose a conflict.
