Czech police officers receive new cars built to their needs
Czech police have begun taking delivery of more than 350 new Škoda Kodiaq vehicles designed specifically for their operational needs. The first cars were handed over at the test track near Mladá Boleslav, with the remaining 301 to follow by the end of the year. The new all-wheel-drive cars are fitted with the most powerful petrol engines, automatic transmissions, and reinforced PIT bumpers for use in pursuit or emergency situations. Each vehicle costs around 1.6 million crowns. According to Police President Martin Vondrášek, the vehicles were developed based on feedback from officers who spend long hours on duty. Outgoing Interior Minister Vít Rakušan (Mayors and Independents) said the cars were “built to measure” for Czech police and have attracted interest from foreign counterparts.
