Czech court hands down exceptional sentences of 28 and 25 years in case of a murder

A Czech court has sentenced Armenian national Richard Svoboda and Moldovan Oleg Fedorov to 28 and 25 years in prison, respectively, for murder. According to Thursday’s non-final verdict, restaurant owner Svoboda ordered the killing of a compatriot, who was then murdered and buried in Prague’s Vidoule park by Fedorov. Both men deny guilt as well as planning another murder. Two other defendants — Ukrainian Roman Osypchuk and Czech Jiří Seltenreich — received prison terms of 15 and six years. The court said Fedorov lured the victim into the park, where he and Seltenreich posed as police officers, tied him up, and Fedorov later buried him alive. The group also plotted another killing near Slapy in late 2023, the court found.
