Martin Nečas signs eight-year deal with Colorado, becomes highest-paid Czech in NHL

Czech forward Martin Nečas has signed an eight-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche, making him the highest-paid Czech player in the NHL next season. The 26-year-old will allegedly earn an average of USD 11.5 million a year (CZK 242 million).

Nečas joined Colorado last season from Carolina and quickly became a key player. This season, he has 13 points in 11 games, ranking third on the team behind Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.

With this deal, Nečas overtakes Boston star David Pastrňák, whose guaranteed salary of USD 11.25 million makes him the top-paid Czech athlete.
