Wind grounds fireworks at Plzeň’s Republic Day celebrations

Plzeň City Hall has announced that the planned fireworks display, which is traditionally the highlight of celebrations marking the founding of Czechoslovakia, has had to be cancelled due to strong winds. The popular Parade of Lights, which typically precedes the fireworks, will take place, setting off at 6 p.m. from T. G. Masaryk Square and heading toward Republic Square. Other events including guided tours, rides in historic vehicles, open gardens, excursions, and sports activities have not been affected by the adverse weather conditions.
