As Israeli government approves Gaza ceasefire, Czech FM express hope
The Israeli government has approved a ceasefire deal with Hamas that includes the release of hostages held in Gaza, foreign media reported on Friday. The truce, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, was welcomed in Czechia, where the Foreign Ministry said its key priorities remain the release of all hostages, a lasting peace, and Israel’s security. Jewish organizations in Prague also voiced relief and optimism. Chief Rabbi Karol Efraim Sidon said, “If people stop killing each other, that’s good.” Former community head František Bányai and writer Martin Vopěnka said they hope the agreement could open the way to lasting peace and the demilitarization of Gaza.
