Record number of women elected to Czech Parliament's lower house

A record 67 women have been elected to the Czech Chamber of Deputies, making up one third of the 200-member lower house. In the previous elections, 50 women won seats – also a record at the time – according to data from the Czech Statistical Office. By contrast, only 31 women were elected in 2006 and 34 in 2002. The average age of deputies has dropped by about a year compared to four years ago, to 48.8. Male MPs are on average 50.2 years old, while female MPs are around 46.
