Czech kayakers win two medals at World Championships

Czech paddlers celebrated double success at the Canoe Slalom World Championships in Penrith, Australia. Jakub Krejčí claimed silver, while Olympic champion from Tokyo 2021 Jiří Prskavec finished just 0.07 seconds behind him to take bronze. Victory went to France’s Titouan Castryck, who crossed the line 1.46 seconds ahead of Krejčí.

For 23-year-old Krejčí, the tournament has been a career breakthrough. After taking bronze in the kayak cross time trial earlier in the week, he now added his first ever medal in the classic slalom. He will compete again on Saturday in the kayak cross knockout races. Prskavec, the reigning European champion, closed a turbulent season on a high note. The 32-year-old collected his sixth career world championship medal, and his first bronze.
