Czech Army to strengthen air defence, including against drones

The Czech Army plans to boost its air defence capabilities, including measures against drones. The Defence Ministry is reported to have approved the purchase of two new electronic warfare and surveillance systems worth more than four billion crowns.The move comes at a time when NATO countries have reported several recent violations of their airspace by Russia.

Czech authorities are also detecting increasing numbers of drones in restricted areas. Despite flight bans marked on maps, critical infrastructure such as power plants, refineries, and airports are seeking stronger protection. At Prague Airport alone, several drone intrusions into secured zones are recorded every month.
