Siniaková returns to world No. 1 in doubles after Seoul title with Krejčíková
Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková has returned to the top of the world doubles rankings after winning the title in Seoul with partner Barbora Krejčíková. It was their first tournament together since last year’s Paris Olympics, and they claimed their 18th trophy as a pair without dropping a set, including seven Grand Slam titles.
The 29-year-old replaces American Taylor Townsend at No. 1. With Townsend, she won Wimbledon last year, this year’s Australian Open, and reached the US Open final.
Siniaková also enjoyed success in singles in Seoul, advancing from qualifying all the way to the semifinals, where she lost to Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova. The run boosted her singles ranking by 15 places to No. 62.
