Suicide rates in Czechia above EU average

Suicide rates in Czechia are above the European Union average, with suicides accounting for 1.11 percent of all deaths, according to experts from the National Institute of Mental Health (NUDZ) and the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic (ÚZIS ČR). They believe that some suicides are likely not reflected in the statistics. More accurate data is expected from the statistics currently being processed for last year, which take into account not only healthcare data but also suicide records kept by the Police Presidium, NUDZ spokesperson Jan Červenka said on Monday in a press release to ČTK.
