Identity of captured Šumava wolf confirmed

Genetic tests have confirmed that a female wolf who died in Šumava on Wednesday shortly after being captured by the national park’s zoologists was from the pack in the park’s enclosure in Srní.  Since zoologists were unable to find the identification chip which all the wolves in the enclosure have, they requested genetic tests. The cause of death should be determined by an autopsy.

The last of the three wolves that escaped the Srní enclosure in late July or early August still remains at large. Park rangers are trying to track its movements and capture it, park spokesman Jan Dvořák told the Czech News Agency.
