Total lunar eclipse to be visible in Czechia on September 7

A total lunar eclipse will be visible from Czech territory on Sunday, September 7, at dusk, the Czech Astronomical Society reported on its website. Observers will be able to see the second half of the eclipse around 8:30 p.m., when the Moon will appear as a brick-red full moon low over the eastern horizon.

It will be the first total lunar eclipse visible from Czech territory in more than six years. The next will not occur for another three years.

The dimmed full moon will also make it easier to observe the planets Saturn and Neptune, according to astronomers.  Public observatories will offer opportunities to watch the phenomenon.
