One escaped wolf in Šumava National Park recaptured, four still missing

Rangers in Šumava National Park on Wednesday night captured a female wolf that had escaped her enclosure in early August. Zoologists used a tranquilizer gun to sedate the animal before moving her to a quarantine pen, where she is now under veterinary supervision. However, four of the park’s 13 wolves remain unaccounted for. Traps have been set in the surrounding area, and the monitoring system will be expanded with additional camera traps. A full animal count and fence inspection are also planned, a park spokesperson said. The Srní Visitor Center will remain closed at least until Sunday, August 17.
