Wolf still at large in Šumava, regularly returns to enclosure

Rangers in Šumava National Park have yet to capture a wolf that escaped from the enclosure at the visitor centre in Srní, Klatovy district. The animal, believed to be a female from the local pack, has been repeatedly returning to the site, apparently trying to get back inside. A trap cage and a foot snare have been set up, and rangers are monitoring her movements with the help of public sightings. The pack inside the three-hectare enclosure now numbers nine wolves, down from the original thirteen. Park officials say the escape route remains a mystery.
