Prague to extend loan of Mucha’s Slav Epic to Moravský Krumlov

Prague will extend the contract with Moravský Krumlov for the loan of a set of twenty large-format paintings by Alfons Mucha, known as the Slav Epic, by five years until 2031. Prague-city councillors decided this on Tuesday.

The cycle is on display at Moravský Krumlov Castle, and the current contract expires on May 20th 2026. The councilors’ decision was based on an agreement with John Mucha, Marcus James Mucha and the Mucha Foundation, which states that the work will remain in Moravský Krumlov until Prague secures a permanent exhibition for it.
