Czech Oscar entry is Klára Tasovská’s documentary I’m Still Not Who I Want to Be

The Czech Film and Television Academy has chosen Klára Tasovská’s documentary I’m Still Not Who I Want to Be as the country’s contender for the 2026 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The work portrays photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková, capturing her life from the 1980s Czechoslovak underground to her escape to West Berlin and fashion photography in Tokyo. Made from her diaries and thousands of analogue photos, the film premiered at Berlinale 2024 and won the Czech Lion for Best Documentary. The Oscars shortlist will be announced on 16 December, with nominations on 22 January.
