Young Czech sprinter Rada dominates 400m hurdles at European U20 Championships

Czech athlete Michal Rada won the 400 metres hurdles at the European U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland, in a championship record time of 48.78 seconds. The 18-year-old from České Budějovice improved his own national junior record of 49.08 set in June, finishing 0.88 seconds ahead of Spain’s Iker Moreno. Marek Váňa took bronze with a personal best of 50.46 seconds. Rada narrowly missed the long-standing European junior record of 48.74 set in 1984. His time places him third in the Czech all-time senior rankings behind Jiří Mužík and Vít Müller.
