Czech energy group ČEZ completes entry into Rolls-Royce SMR

The Czech power utility ČEZ has finalized its shareholder entry into British nuclear firm Rolls-Royce SMR, where it has held roughly a 20% stake since July. The two companies will now focus on preparing for the construction of up to three small modular reactors (SMRs) in the United Kingdom, with ČEZ potentially participating as a supplier of certain technologies.

In parallel, ČEZ is moving ahead with plans to build a modular reactor at the Temelín nuclear site, with construction expected to begin in the early 2030s. The cooperation also includes joint efforts in the development of modular nuclear reactor technologies, ČEZ Financial Director Martin Novák told the Czech News Agency (ČTK).
