Tourist dies in Karlovy Vary after falling down stairs

A 48-year-old tourist who tripped and fell down a flight of stairs in Karlovy Vary on Tuesday did not survive the several-metre fall. The police have begun to investigate the case, but they have provisionally ruled out any external fault, regional police spokeswoman Zuzana Churaňová informed ČTK.

"We can confirm that a 48-year-old woman died in the spa area of Karlovy Vary in the early evening hours on Tuesday. A medical autopsy has been ordered. The cause and circumstances of this event are currently under investigation by criminal investigators," Ms. Churaňová said. According to the Novinky.cz server, the woman from Poland, who was on holiday with her husband, fell on a steep and winding outdoor staircase in the spa centre.
