Baník Ostrava finishes in Europa League after 1:2 loss in Warsaw

Ostrava's footballers lost 1:2 in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the Europa League at Legia Warszawa and, on aggregate, are out of the competition with a 2:2 draw. Baník led from the fifteenth minute after a goal by Erik Prekop, Jean-Pierre Nsame equalised shortly after the change of sides, and the home team completed a turnaround in the 74th minute after an own goal by Karel Pojezný. In the 90th minute, David Buchta could have brought the visitors back into the game, but he hit the post from the penalty spot.

Legia Warszawa defended itself even in the eight-minute set-up and won its fifth of six competitive matches this season. In the next round, they will face the Cypriot team AEK Larnaca.
