Czech Football League season ends: Here's how the European spots shaped up
The 2024/25 Czech football league season ended this past weekend, and with it, the final standings have determined which clubs will represent the country in European competitions next season. From title celebrations to last-minute salvages, here's a look at how the key teams finished and where they are headed in the European league.
Slavia dominates the League
Slavia Prague sealed the league title a month before the season ended, finishing with an impressive 90 points. Their dominant run guarantees them direct entry into the UEFA Champions League group stage, giving them a well-earned summer break from qualification rounds.
Plzeň charges into champions league qualifiers
Viktoria Plzeň secured second place with a commanding 4–1 win over Jablonec in the final round. That result earns them a spot in the non-champions route of the Champions League qualifiers, which they'll enter in the second round this July.
Baník takes third, heads to Europa League
Baník Ostrava ended the season third, though a heavy 0–3 loss to Slavia in the final match cost them a chance at something more. Still, their strong overall campaign gives them a ticket to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
Sparta just holds on
Sparta Prague narrowly avoided a major disappointment. A draw against Olomouc was just enough to keep them in fourth place, securing a place in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. While the club avoided missing the European competition for the first time in over 40 years, the season overall fell short of expectations.
Olomouc capitalizes on cup victory
Despite finishing sixth in the league, Sigma Olomouc will play in Europe thanks to their Czech Cup triumph over Sparta. They’ll start in the Europa League playoff round, and even if they fall short, they’re guaranteed a spot in the Conference League group stage.
Jablonec misses out
Jablonec, who finished fifth, saw their European hopes vanish with that loss to Plzeň. Despite a solid run in the final stage of the season, they end up as the only team in the top half without a European ticket.
