Summer film school in Uherské Hradiště gets underway with 51st edition

The 51st edition of the Summer Film School gets underway today in the Moravian town of Uherské Hradiště.

Among this year’s guests are Czech theatre legend Jiří Suchý, Slovak actress Zuzana Kronerová, Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl, and Swedish poet, novelist, and director Lukas Moodysson. Also joining is acclaimed Chadian director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun.

The festival’s official opening takes place Saturday evening at the Hvězda cinema, with a screening of Caravan by Zuzana Kirchnerová. The film premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.

The popular non-competitive festival draws thousands of visitors to the Moravian town every year.
