Paramedics treated 97 people in Roztoky over suspected meningitis
Emergency services responded in Roztoky near Prague on Monday evening due to a suspected case of meningitis type B. Nearly a hundred people were placed under medical supervision, but none were in life-threatening condition, according to rescue service spokesman Marek Hylebrant. According to Novinky.cz the incident was linked to an accommodation facility at Tyršovo Square, which police and firefighters sealed off. Meningococcal infections can cause serious brain inflammation. In Czechia, about 70 percent of children under two are vaccinated against type B, with protection rates lower in teenagers.
