PM Fiala meets German chancellor Merz in Berlin

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Civic Democratic Party) is meeting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and international developments. Key topics include defence cooperation, energy, transport, and continued support for Ukraine. The meeting will begin with military honours at the chancellery, followed by brief talks and a joint press conference. A working dinner is planned afterwards. Since taking office in May, Merz has met leaders of nearly all Germany’s neighbours, including France’s Macron and Poland’s Tusk. After today’s talks with Fiala, only meetings with Belgian and Swiss leaders remain.
