Top prosecutor warns of rising child violence

Chief Prosecutor Lenka Bradáčová has raised the alarm over rising youth violence in the Czech Republic. “Ten years ago, there was one child-perpetrated murder a year, now it’s ten,” she told Seznam Zprávy. She called for better data sharing between the justice, education, social services, and health ministries. A major issue is the lack of child psychiatrists-only 18 experts nationwide- leading to delays of up to six months for court-ordered evaluations, Bradáčová said. She also criticized the absence of data on whether measures for under-15 offenders prevent future crimes.
