Police to launch summer crackdown on underage drinking

Czech police will once again target underage drinking at summer events, discos and restaurants, the news site Novinky.cz reported. Last year’s operations uncovered hundreds of intoxicated minors, some of whom required hospital treatment or police intervention. During ten raids alone, officers detained 324 underage drinkers. This year’s campaign will run from mid-June to mid-September. The authorities warn that the holiday period which gives schoolgoers lots of free time poses the highest risk of teenage intoxication.
