Mayors and Independents will not leave the government over bitcoin scandal

The Mayors and Independents will not walk out of the government over the bitcoin scandal at the Ministry of Justice, the party leadership agreed at a late night meeting on Monday. However the party wants the dubious transaction thoroughly investigated and stated three demands which it considers crucial. It wants the funds from the bitcoin auction, worth nearly one billion crowns, to be frozen until the origin of the money has been determined. It has asked that its representative at the ministry, Deputy Justice Minister Karel Dvořák, should remain in office and have full access to information pertaining to the case and for the ministry to explain who accepted the dubious donation without checking it with the tax administration, the Financial Analytical Office (FAU) or the police.
