Man shot dead in police shootout on German-Czech border
A man was killed in a shootout with German police on the German-Czech border in Bavaria on Saturday afternoon. Officers attempted to stop the man for a routine check near the town of Schirnding, just a few kilometers from the Czech city of Cheb, when he fled on foot and opened fire. Police returned fire, fatally wounding him. Despite resuscitation attempts, the man could not be saved. No police officers were injured. Authorities in the Bavarian town of Hof have launched an investigation under the supervision of the local prosecutor’s office.
