Czech MPs to debate government bills aligning with EU regulations

The Czech Chamber of Deputies is expected to debate a series of government proposals today aimed at aligning national law with European Union regulations. The agenda also includes MP-led amendments, such as easing qualification rules for small boat operators. Lawmakers hope to fast-track several of the bills in their first reading. Key proposals relate to capital and financial markets, including the creation of an EU-wide access point for investment firm data. Other bills reflect EU climate targets, with measures on civil aviation and maritime transport to promote sustainable fuels. Altogether, the government aims to push through around 20 bills, including compensation for victims of communist-era repression and pension cuts for former regime officials. However, the chamber is unlikely to complete all planned items today due to expected opposition interventions.
