Nationwide road traffic survey begins in Czechia

A nationwide traffic survey across Czech roads got underway on Wednesday. More than 3,000 surveyors will monitor traffic on 6,600 road sections of all categories, including routes in major cities. The collected data will support future planning of transport infrastructure and guide decisions by both national and regional authorities.

The large-scale operation, funded by the Roads and Motorways Directorate (ŘSD), aims to create a comprehensive traffic database. The survey is designed to capture data across different times, days, and seasons to reflect typical traffic patterns as well as peak and off-peak periods.

Results are expected in the first half of 2026 and will serve as a key resource for infrastructure development and policy-making.
