Book World Prague 2025 welcomes Nobel prize winner Olga Tokarczuk

The 30th edition of Book World Prague, the international book fair and literary festival organized by the Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers, opens this Thursday at the Výstaviště exhibition grounds in Prague.

As the largest literary event of its kind in Czechia, the fair draws authors, publishers, and readers from around the world. This year’s standout guests include Polish Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk, Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov, Ukrainian author Andrej Kurkov, and American novelist Sam Holland.

The theme of this year’s edition is “30! Energy of the Youth – Wisdom of Books”, marking three decades of literary exchange and exploration. Portugal, this year’s Guest of Honour, will highlight its contemporary authors and writing across genres.

The fair continues to highlight literature as a force for freedom through the Jiří Theiner Award, which this year will be presented to Algerian writer Boualem Sansal for his contributions to the defense of free expression.
