Retail sales in Czechia rose 3.4 percent year-on-year in March
Retail sales in Czechia, excluding cars and repairs, grew by 3.4% year-on-year in March, slightly up from February’s revised 3.2% increase, the Czech Statistical Office reported. Internet sales and fuel purchases were the main drivers of growth, while food sales and spending in household goods stores declined. Sales of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and sporting goods all saw solid year-on-year increases. Compared to February, overall retail sales rose by 0.4%. Sales and repairs of motor vehicles also rose slightly, both year-on-year and month-on-month, by 0.5%.
