Temperatures in Bohemia drop close to minus ten degrees Celsius

A cold snap hit the Šumava mountains early Fridayy morning, with temperatures plunging to minus 8.7°C near Kvilda—breaking a record set in 1994. According to Eva Houbová from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in České Budějovice, many areas in South Bohemia recorded freezing temperatures, even in lower altitudes. In Hliniště it was -5.9°C, while Volary saw -5.4°C. Similar conditions were recorded in the north of the Country and are expected again on Saturday. Despite the morning frost, daytime highs in the region should reach about 15°C today and up to 18°C over the weekend. Warmer weather, however, is not forecast anytime soon.
