PM’s national security adviser: Czechia will not recognize annexation of Crimea

If the US decides to recognize the annexation of Crimea, within the peace plan for Ukraine, the Czech Republic will not follow, the Czech prime minister’s National Security Advisor Tomáš Pojar said in an interview for Czech Radio. According to Pojar, the Czech Republic and many other European states will not react to any recognition of the annexation. “If the United States unilaterally recognizes the annexation of Crimea, as it has recognized other similar territorial annexations around the world, that is a unilateral act by the United States. And that is how it would have to be viewed,” Pojar said.

US President Donald Trump said after a meeting in Rome with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that Crimea would remain Russia's. Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014 but Ukraine has refused to give it up.
