Czech companies fared better than expected in late 2024, survey shows

Czech businesses managed the second half of 2024 more successfully than anticipated, according to a survey by the Czech Chamber of Commerce. A third of companies reported improvement, 44 percent stagnation, and only 23 percent a decline. Most firms avoided layoffs, with seven in ten keeping staff numbers unchanged. Small enterprises performed especially well—41 percent saw gains, while only 17 percent faced a downturn. In contrast, larger companies struggled more often. The Chamber's president Zdeněk Zajíček praised the resilience and flexibility of Czech entrepreneurs but warned that future prospects depend on reducing regulation and ensuring a stable international environment.
