Vaněček makes debut for Florida Panthers, Pastrňák overtakes Voráček in all-time ranking

Goaltender Vítek Vaněček made his debut for the Florida Panthers on Saturday, stopping all twenty-one shots at the goal. He led the defending Stanley Cup champions to a 4-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres and was named Most Valuable Player. Florida acquired Vaněček a few days ago from the San Jose Sharks, where the Czech goalie was playing with an 88.2% save percentage.

Elsewhere, David Pastrňák helped Boston win 4-0 at Tampa Bay with an assist and moved into third place in the all-time ranking of Czech players' productivity, ahead of Jakub Voráček. Mr. Pastrňák now has 806 points, just like Mr. Voráček, but the Havířov native had scored more goals (380) and needed more than three hundred games less to do so. The table is led by Jaromír Jágr (1921) ahead of Patrik Eliáš (1025).
