President Pavel: Biggest disappointment in second year was lack of political common ground

President Petr Pavel's biggest disappointment in his second year in office was that political parties across the spectrum did not have the good will to find important topics for all citizens on which they could agree. This was stated in a publication that the president’s office issued on Saturday, in connection with the fact that on Sunday it will be two years since his inauguration as Czech head of state.

In the publication, the president also stated that he had resolved to maintain his mental health and his political distance and balance. He would like Czechia to be a self-confident, purposeful, determined and prosperous country, like a "Central European Finland". According to the document, in his second year in office, President Pavel welcomed thirteen presidents to Prague Castle, made eighteen foreign trips, visited nine regions, and held five talks with Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

Among other interesting facts, the president’s office reported that President Pavel donated 462 millilitres of blood and tested six means of transport: a hot air balloon, a glider, a paddleboard, a motor tractor, a steam locomotive and a high-lift platform.
