Czech politicians consider debate on Czech role in future peacekeeping mission premature

The majority of Czech politicians consider discussions on the possible deployment of Czech troops as peacekeepers in Ukraine to be premature until there is a clear agreement with security guarantees on the table and a ceasefire in place. According to Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Bartošek from the Christian Democrats Czech soldiers should not be absent from a future peacekeeping force, if they are part of a wider European military presence. On the other hand, the opposition Freedom and Direct Democracy Party rejects any direct involvement of the Czech army. Other European nations, including the UK and Germany, have signaled readiness to take part in a future peacekeeping mission.
