Czech Foreign Ministry expanding consular help line services for Czechs abroad

The Czech Foreign Ministry is expanding the Consular Operations and Information Centre's emergency help line for the public, which will replace the individual emergency lines of embassies around the world and facilitate contacts for Czechs abroad. The call centre staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so as to cover time shifts in remote destinations. In the case of consular cases requiring on-site assistance, operators will immediately switch to the emergency line of the responsible embassy. In the past six months of the emergency line project operators handled over 6,000 calls, mostly dealing with loss of travel documents, crime, hospitalization or traffic accidents.
