Gas reserves in Czechia drop significantly compared to last year

Czechia’s natural gas reserves have decreased sharply compared to the same period last year. Gas storage facilities are now 48% full, holding over 1.67 billion cubic meters of gas, down from 73% a year ago. The faster depletion of reserves is attributed to colder weather and an earlier start to the heating season, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In the past seven days, 137 million cubic meters of gas were withdrawn, 21% more than last year. Across the EU, gas reserves are also dropping faster, with average storage levels at 59%, down from 75% last year.
