Czech politicians on Trump inauguration: US will remain key ally

The United States will remain a key ally of the Czech Republic under the new administration of President Donald Trump, Czech politicians said in reaction to the change of guard at the White House.  Prime Minister Petr Fiala highlighted the strong security and trade relations between the two states. The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarova Adamová said the transatlantic link remains the main pillar of Czech foreign policy. President Trump's inauguration speech won praise from opposition politicians, who hailed it as “a speech by a strong leader”. Economists have expressed the view that Trump's announced steps will increase economic pressure on Europe, but at the same time, they do not close the door to future trade.
