A third of rail links fail Ministry's checks

A third of the railway connections ordered by the state fail to pass the Ministry of Transport's checks. Common shortcomings in fast and express trains on the Czech railway include missing or outdated carriages, lack of air conditioning, non-functional sockets, and broken information screens and radios. The ministry will expand its inspections; regional officials will also be able to inspect trains.

According to the ministry's representative, the most frequent error across carriers is the incorrect ordering of wagons. They either assign obsolete wagons or no wagons at all, which in turn reduces the capacity of the service. Czech Railways states that it is a long-term problem due to prolonged wagon repairs.
