Prague's Christmas spruce to be repurposed for outdoor furniture

The Christmas spruce from Prague's Old Town Square was removed on Thursday morning by Technology of the Capital City of Prague (THMP) and taken to workshops. The wood will be repurposed into outdoor furniture for the Paprsek Children's Centre in Prague 9.

This year’s 22-metre spruce, which came from a private garden in the village of Krompach in northern Bohemia, was on display for 44 days and last lit up on Monday. A ten-member team worked on Tuesday and Wednesday to take down the decorations, including 400 ornaments and 13 kilometres of light chains.
