Czechs abroad to vote by mail in 2025 parliamentary elections
Czechs living abroad will vote by mail for the first time in next year’s parliamentary elections, following an amendment passed by the ruling coalition. Opposition parties ANO and SPD, which have struggled with expatriate voters, failed to delay the change.
Political parties enter the election year with new or confirmed leaders. Speculation surrounds former finance minister Miroslav Kalousek, who may form a new right-wing party. The Motorists' Party, buoyed by Filip Turek’s European election success, is in talks with Přísaha.
These elections will precede 2026 reforms, including a unified election system, easier voter ID access, and fixed October election dates for municipal, Senate, and regional votes.
